Financial education
Colorado Office of Financial Empowerment
The Colorado Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) is a newly created department that focuses on supporting local communities by helping them access affordable financial services and maintain financial stability. The OFE works with financial institutions, local and state officials, state agencies, tribal nations, and community members and organizations, to expand access to safe and affordable banking and credit, and to offer free individual financial counseling to those in need.

The State Treasurer’s Office of Colorado operates the Colorado Unclaimed Property Division to protect unclaimed property and return it to its rightful owner(s) or their heirs. Unclaimed property can include leftover funds in checking and saving accounts, certificates of deposit, over payments, insurance checks, payroll checks, utility refunds, money orders, un-cashed checks, dividends, stocks, bonds, contents of safe deposit boxes and more.
